The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) conducted a major eviction drive at the Mirpur-10 metro rail station on Friday, clearing illegal structures that had obstructed passenger movement and compromised station security. The four-hour operation, which began at 9:00 a.m., aimed to restore order and ensure a seamless environment for commuters in the high-traffic area.

The operation was overseen by three DMTCL executive magistrates—Mohammad Shajahan Ali, Md. Zahidul Islam, and Nazrul Islam—alongside support from the Dhaka North City Corporation, represented by regional executive officer Kamal Uddin. To ensure the process remained orderly, the effort included personnel from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Rapid Action Battalion, Fire Service, Ansar, DESCO, WASA, and the MRT police unit.

This initiative follows a series of similar actions taken by the transit authority. On Thursday, DMTCL cleared unauthorized encroachments at four other stations along the metro line, stretching from Uttara North to Pallabi.

According to a formal statement issued by DMTCL, these evictions are part of an ongoing effort to maintain safety and operational standards across the entire metro rail network. The authority emphasized that regular patrols and enforcement actions will continue to prevent the re-emergence of illegal structures, warning stakeholders that any future obstructions will be met with similar administrative measures.
