Resignation of Proctor of Dhaka University

Proctor of Dhaka University Professor Saifuddin Ahmed has resigned. He submitted his resignation letter to the vice chancellor on Sunday.

Professor Saifuddin Ahmed wrote in the resignation letter, 'I am officially submitting my resignation from the post of proctor of Dhaka University, which will be effective from the date of submission of this application. It is a matter of great honor for me to carry out this duty for the last 20 months and to get the opportunity to work for the welfare of the students and maintaining the discipline of the university.

Stating that he felt the need to step down from the post of proctor due to personal reasons, Saifuddin Ahmed wrote, "However, I will remain committed to the university in my academic duties and ensure that the process of transfer of responsibility is completed smoothly."

When asked about the resignation, Professor Saifuddin Ahmed told Prothom Alo, "Since joining as a proctor, I have faced many storms. Now that the university is coming to a stable state, I feel that now someone new should come and fulfill this responsibility.

After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024 in a student-public uprising, Professor Saifuddin Ahmed was appointed as the proctor of Dhaka University on August 28.
