BRAC will employ 1 million people in the next 5 years
BRAC will create job opportunities for 1 million people in the next 5 years. The organization feels that unemployment is a major problem at present. Bangladesh and the world’s largest NGO BRAC are giving priority to solving that problem in the next five years.
Asif Saleh, Executive Director of BRAC, announced this plan in an exchange meeting with the media on the occasion of the publication of BRAC’s 2025 annual report. This report was released at the BRAC center in Mohakhali today, Monday.

In the event, Asif Saleh said that BRAC will prioritize five types of work focusing on women and youth in the next five years. They are inclusive development, employment generation, quality education, primary health care and climate resilience.
According to BRAC, there will be 100,000 new job opportunities, of which 530,000 people will get Business-in-a-Box opportunities. 1 lakh 30 thousand people will be entrepreneurs. And 90 thousand direct job opportunities will be created. And 1 lakh 60 thousand people will benefit indirectly.

Asif Saleh brought up the context of a speech of late Sir Fazle Hussain Abed, the founder of BRAC, and said that he used to say that the organization should adapt to the changing needs of people. Otherwise the work of BRAC will not be important. BRAC focuses on the changing needs of people over time. Unemployment is a big problem nowadays, BRAC wants to solve that problem within their capacity. The idea of creating new jobs is from that.
BRAC will help fill the learning gap of 19 lakh students in the next 5 years. 2 crore people of the country will come under the service. A loan of 1 lakh 50 thousand crore rupees will be given every year. The company plans to open 200 new financial service centers in Char, Haor, Chittagong Hill Tracts and coastal areas.
According to BRAC, special importance will be given to 20 climate-prone districts of the country. Assistance will reach 12 lakh 50 thousand women farmers.
Today’s event highlights the activities of BRAC in 2025. According to BRAC’s 2025 annual report, about 29 million people in the country came under the various services and assistance of BRAC last year, which is equal to 1 in every 7 people in Bangladesh. Apart from this, 1 crore 90 lakh women and more than 223 thousand disabled persons have received the assistance of BRAC. Two out of every three people BRAC reaches directly are women. Health, education, inclusion in financial services, disaster and crisis management, safe water and sanitation (WASH), climate change challenges, migration, skill development, etc. have been provided in various fields.
According to BRAC’s annual report, BRAC is working to increase the income and capacity of marginalized communities through microcredit, ultra-poor graduation and skill development programmes. According to the report, the amount of loan assistance under the microcredit program has increased significantly. Besides, creation and support of women entrepreneurs has also been strengthened. About 1 thousand crores of wealth has been given in 5 years for poverty alleviation. 3 lakh 12 thousand ultra-poor families have been freed from extreme poverty. The total amount of loan assistance has increased from Tk 29 thousand crore to Tk 48 and a half thousand crore.
BRAC is working to address maternal and child health, tuberculosis, malaria and non-communicable diseases through community-based healthcare. 21 lakh mothers received safe delivery services in 5 years. 3.5 million people are diagnosed with non-communicable diseases, disabilities and eye problems. More than 1 million TB patients have been diagnosed and treated.
