Bangladesh Police Service Association moves to resolve promotion and posting challenges for all ranks

The Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) has announced plans to engage in formal discussions with relevant authorities to address systemic complications regarding the promotion and posting of police personnel, ranging from the rank of constable to Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

The decision was formalized during a meeting held Tuesday evening at the Police Headquarters’ Hall of Pride in Dhaka. The session was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, who also serves as the president of the association.

A press statement issued Wednesday by Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Shamima Parveen, the association’s general secretary, confirmed that the meeting focused on enhancing professionalism and accountability within the force. Discussions were aimed at ensuring citizen-centric policing, resolving internal institutional challenges, and boosting the morale and operational drive of police personnel.

Beyond structural issues, the association addressed the proliferation of what it described as false, fabricated, and politically motivated misinformation targeting police officers on social media platforms. The body expressed grave concern over the impact of such narratives on the force’s reputation and vowed to monitor the situation closely.

The meeting was moderated by Superintendent of Police Shamima Parveen and attended by several high-ranking officials, including Additional Inspector General (Administration) AKM Awlad Hossain, Highway Police Additional Inspector General Faruk Ahmed, and Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Israil Hawlader. Other notable attendees included DIG of the Special Branch Mir Ashraf Ali, Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Sylhet Range DIG Md. Zillur Rahman, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, and Mymensingh Range DIG Mohammad Zahidul Hasan, alongside representatives from various officer batches.
