Assistant Attorney General Md Nurul Karim resigns citing personal reasons

Assistant Attorney General Md. Nurul Karim has resigned from his position, citing personal reasons. Karim submitted his resignation letter, addressed to the President, to the Attorney General’s office on Sunday afternoon.
This resignation follows the mass appointment of 266 law officers on July 30, which included 86 Deputy Attorney Generals (DAG) and 180 Assistant Attorney Generals (AAG). This move marked the first such appointments made since the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) assumed power.
Karim’s departure comes just 18 days after his appointment. Earlier, another Assistant Attorney General, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, resigned on August 3, only four days after being appointed, citing his inability to perform his duties due to personal reasons. The Ministry of Law’s Solicitor Wing issued a gazette notification on August 6 formally cancelling Rahman’s appointment order.
The July 30 appointments were part of a broader administrative restructuring, which involved the cancellation of the appointment orders of all Deputy and Assistant Attorney Generals who had been appointed during the tenure of the interim government.
