Another Giant Coral Fish Caught in Kuakata Sea within Four Days

A giant coral fish has been caught once again in the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata, Patuakhali, within just four days. On Tuesday morning, fisherman Al Amin netted a 24-kg coral fish.
Al Amin said he went fishing in the sea early in the morning. While pulling up his net, he realized that a large fish had been trapped. When the net was hauled in, it revealed a massive coral fish.
After returning from the sea, Al Amin took the fish to the Kuakata municipal fish market for sale. The fish weighed 24 kg, and local fish trader Bashir Gazi purchased it at Tk 1,500 per kg, totaling Tk 36,000.
Bashir Gazi said he had already sent the fish to Dhaka, expecting to sell it there at Tk 1,700 per kg.
Earlier, on August 15, another giant coral fish weighing 21.8 kg was caught in Al Amin’s net. That fish was sold through auction to trader Khalil Hawlader at Tk 1,600 per kg, totaling Tk 34,880.
Kalatpata Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer, Apu Saha, said that as fishermen are following the seasonal fishing ban to conserve marine resources, bigger fish are now being caught in the sea.
