Probe launched into vaccine crisis and measles child deaths: Health Secretary
The government has launched an investigation into the vaccine shortage and measles deaths. Why so many children died of measles, whether anyone was negligent or not, will be investigated. The results of the investigation will be reported to the countrymen including journalists.
In the round table meeting titled "Measles Outbreak and Transition Path" held at Bangladesh Medical University on Saturday, Secretary of Healthcare Department Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury spoke about the investigation committee. Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum (BHRF), an organization of journalists working on health, organized the meeting.
The secretary of the health care department was present as a special guest on the occasion. Before he presented his speech, a journalist asked him if there would be any investigation into the vaccine crisis and the measles incident.
Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury said, "We are working." Journalists want to know whether the investigation will start or whether the investigation has already started. The health secretary said that the investigation has started. work in progress
After that, the secretary of the health care department said that why the children were lost, whether there was any negligence or not, there will be an investigation.
The secretary did not answer any such questions about whom the inquiry committee was made, when it was made. However, he said, the results of the investigation have been informed to everyone, including journalists.
Director General of Health Department Professor Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Public Health Officers Be Nazir Ahmed, Mushtaq Hossain, Abdus Sabur, Dhaka University Teacher Syed Abdul Hamid, DAB Secretary General Zahirul Islam Shakeel, Vaccination Specialist Tajul Islam A Bari, Virus Specialist Khandkar Mahbuba Jamil, Dean of Dental Faculty of Bangladesh Medical University Sakhawat Hossain Sayant were present on the occasion. Professor Mirza Ziaul Islam, Head of Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Bangladesh Children's Hospital and Institute, presented the keynote speech at the event. Representatives of UNICEF and World Health Organization were present on the occasion. Prateek Ijaz, president of the organizing organization conducted the event.
