Police attacked while catching robbers in Mohammadpur, 3 robbers arrested
A team of Dhanmondi Police Station was attacked while catching robbers in Mohammadpur of the capital. At that time, the police said that one of the robbers was shot by the police. Two others were arrested from the spot.
The incident took place in Azam Road lane behind Mohammadpur Town Hall at around six o'clock on Monday morning. Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam confirmed the matter and told Prothom Alo, Dhanmondi Police Station-Police raided the area at around 6:30 AM based on secret information based on the investigation of a previous case. At this time, the robbers tried to attack the police with Chinese axes, chopsticks and sharp weapons. A policeman pistol fired two blank rounds in self-defence. However, when the robbers continued to attack, the policeman shot one of the robbers in the leg.
The shot robber's name is Shakib. He is undergoing treatment at Suhrawardy Hospital under police guard. Apart from this, two others named Palash and Biplab have been arrested from the spot. This gang used to attack Dhanmondi and surrounding areas on motorcycles and robbed them with chapatis and knives.
According to the police, a Chinese ax, chapati, knife and a toy revolver were recovered from the arrested persons. Some members of the police were also slightly injured in the incident and received first aid at the hospital.
