Laxmipur Youth Party leader expelled following rape allegations
The Laxmipur district branch of the Juba Dal has expelled one of its local leaders following allegations of rape filed by a housewife. The decision was formalized in a statement issued Monday night, signed by district president Abdul Alim Humayun and general secretary Syed Rashidiul Hasan.
The expelled individual, Al-Amin Choyal, held the position of assistant organizing secretary for the 4th Ward of the Char Ramani Mohan Union Juba Dal. According to the party’s announcement, he has been stripped of all organizational roles, and members have been strictly instructed to sever all professional and personal ties with him.
Syed Rashidiul Hasan stated that the organization maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward conduct that damages its reputation. He emphasized that the party refuses to shoulder responsibility for the personal actions of its members and that the expulsion was a direct response to the gravity of the allegations.
The charges against Choyal stem from a case filed by the victim on Saturday night. According to the First Information Report (FIR) and police accounts, the suspect allegedly entered the woman’s home last Thursday night while her husband was working abroad and subjected her to sexual assault under threats of violence.
The suspect has since gone into hiding, and law enforcement efforts to locate him remain ongoing. Laxmipur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Wahed Parvez confirmed that authorities are actively searching for Choyal, noting that he has remained unreachable since the allegations surfaced.
