Lalmonirhat social organization expels four members over drug links, hands them to police
Four members of a social advocacy group in Lalmonirhat have been expelled and handed over to police following allegations of involvement in narcotics trafficking. The individuals, who were affiliated with the local ward branch of the "Alokito Lalmonirhat Social Movement Committee," were subsequently remanded to district jail by a court on Saturday afternoon.
The expelled members are Atiar Rahman, Anarul Islam, Md. Abdur Razzak, and Jahedul Islam, all residents of East Harinchara village in the Khuniagach Union of Lalmonirhat Sadar.
The disciplinary action was confirmed late Friday night when Khairuzzaman Mondal, the chairman of the Khuniagach Union Parishad and the chief coordinator of the organization’s union branch, issued a formal statement via social media. The notification explicitly cited the members' engagement in drug-related activities as a severe breach of organizational discipline, resulting in their permanent expulsion from the committee.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saad Ahmed of the Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station confirmed the development on Saturday evening, stating that the suspects were processed and transferred to the district jail under judicial orders.
