1 in 5 people in Khulna division received BRAC service

In Khulna division, the service will reach one in five residents by 2025, development agency BRAC said. These services are provided in various sectors including health, education, financial inclusion, disaster management, safe water and sanitation (WASH), climate change mitigation, migration, skill development.
BRAC’s 2025 divisional annual report was released in a ceremony organized at the Khulna Divisional Commissioner’s Office Multipurpose Hall today on Tuesday afternoon.

In the event, it was informed that 7 thousand 788 employees of BRAC are implementing these activities in Khulna division. Among them, about 45 percent are women and 0.41 percent are persons with disabilities. These activities are being conducted through 429 offices of social development programs and 44 offices of social business initiatives.

According to the report, in 2025, 12 thousand 441 extremely poor families have been helped in Khulna division, out of which 6 thousand 386 families have been able to overcome poverty. 1 lakh 26 thousand 811 vulnerable families have come under the disaster preparedness program.
2 thousand 400 families received emergency humanitarian assistance. About 1.9 lakh people have come under the financial services, of which about 91 percent of the micro-loan beneficiaries are women. 4 lakh 36 thousand 281 people have come under health and nutrition services. 1 lakh 30 thousand 165 cases were provided during pregnancy and post-natal care. Safe delivery was confirmed in 32 thousand 107 cases. Apart from this, 81 thousand 659 people were tested for high blood pressure and diabetes. 3 lakh 57 thousand 671 people have been brought under tuberculosis test.
52 thousand 4 people received immigration awareness and resettlement services. 14 thousand 528 people received skill development training. 1 lakh 67 thousand 261 people received legal assistance to prevent violence against women and children and prevent child marriage. 900 students are studying in 36 pre-primary schools in Khulna division under the BRAC education programme.
Speakers on the occasion emphasized on further expansion of BRAC’s role in social development, environmental management and education.
