Police recovered the body of a 32-year-old housewife named Rozina Khatun from a residence in the capital's Purba Nakhalkpara area on Thursday afternoon (October 17). Law enforcement officials described the incident as suspicious, noting that ligature marks were clearly visible around the victim's neck.
Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman stated that law enforcement intervened after receiving an emergency distress call via the national helpline 999 at noon on Thursday. Following the recovery, police completed an initial inquest report at the scene and transferred the body to the morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for a comprehensive autopsy.
Authorities have detained the victim's husband, Arif Hasan, an electrical goods businessman, who was present inside the residence when law enforcement arrived. The couple resided in the apartment alongside their two children.
Sub-Inspector Harun Or Rashid of Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station, who prepared the initial inquest report, observed that the victim's body was found lying on the floor with visible strangulation marks on the neck. Investigators noted that the detained husband's statements during initial questioning appeared incoherent. Police emphasized that the precise cause of death will be definitively determined once the post-mortem examination report is finalized.
