Handmade bomb explosion damages abandoned house in Madaripur

A crude bomb exploded inside an abandoned tin-shed house in the Dakshin Jhikarhati area of Madaripur Sadar Upazila on Wednesday evening, causing significant structural damage to the building.
The explosion occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the Ghatmajhi Union, according to local sources and police reports. The blast was powerful enough to destroy a large portion of the structure, leaving behind smoke and a pungent odor that alerted nearby residents.
Local authorities state that the house belongs to Aminul Islam Khan, a resident of the area who has been living in Khulna for the past seven years. The property had remained vacant for an extended period prior to the incident.
Fariha Rafiq Bhabna, the Additional Superintendent of Police for the Sadar Circle, confirmed that police officers from the Sadar Model Station arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion to conduct an investigation.
Law enforcement officials are currently determining whether the explosion was an act of sabotage or the result of a local power struggle. Following the incident, police patrols have been increased in the area to restore order and mitigate public alarm. Investigators are in the process of contacting the property owner as part of their efforts to identify the suspects and initiate formal legal proceedings.
