Colombian superstar Shakira has once again graced the FIFA World Cup stage, releasing the official song for the 2026 tournament, “Dai Dai,” with Nigerian sensation Burna Boy. The music video premiered on Saturday, May 23, marking her highly anticipated return to football’s biggest spectacle.

The four-minute, elaborately produced video opens with current football icons Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland making their entrances on the pitch, collectively declaring, “We are ready” for Shakira.

Directed by Hannah Lux Davis and filmed in Miami, the video immediately captures Shakira’s signature captivating presence. It begins with her atop Mexico City’s historic Angel of Independence monument before transitioning to a desert backdrop where she dances alongside a group of African children.

Nigerian star Burna Boy then delivers his segment, with Shakira appearing to stand on a luminous Earth beneath a sky full of stars.

Later in the video, she enters a vibrant football stadium, joined by a troupe of female dancers adorned in costumes resembling the flags of participating nations. Shakira pays homage to several football legends, including Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Kaká, and Lionel Messi, while also naming countries like Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, and the Netherlands.

This marks Shakira’s second time performing an official FIFA World Cup song, following her globally acclaimed “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to kick off on June 11 at Mexico City’s historic Estadio Azteca. The grand finale will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, which will be rebranded as ‘New York New Jersey Stadium’ for the duration of the tournament.

Shakira is also slated to be a featured performer at the World Cup final’s halftime show, where she will share the stage with pop queen Madonna and the globally renowned Korean band BTS.
