Post on Facebook writing ‘Ural Dev Aakashe’, then missing UP member

A UP member has been missing for two days in Patuakhali. On the day of his disappearance last Tuesday, he wrote a post on his Facebook ID saying ‘Ural Dev Akashe’. In this incident, his wife lodged a complaint with the police station.
Missing Shahidul Islam Jomaddar (38) UP Member of Ward No. 3 of Lohalia Union Parishad of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila. He lived with his wife Afia Jhumur (34) at First Lane, Sabuj Bagh, Patuakhali. He is a resident of Lohalia village of Lohalia union.

Shahidul’s wife Afia Jhumur said that they had lunch together on Tuesday afternoon. Later, Shahidul left the house talking about personal work. Around six in the evening, he called his wife on his mobile phone and said that his mother needed some medicine. He would go to the village house to give them and return to the city house by 9 or 10 pm after work. Around nine o’clock in the night, Shahidul’s mobile phone was called several times, but he did not pick up the phone. After talking to his elder sister Shahnaz Begum, it is known that Shahidul left the house after charging the mobile phone in his village house. Even though the night was deep, there was no trace of him. The next day wife Afia lodged a GD at the Sadar police station.
Afia Jhumur also said that they got married on December 18 last year. She does not know anything about her husband’s personal or social relations and whether he had any disputes with anyone or not.

Local people said that on the evening of the incident, Shahidul Islam came to the village house and called a local man named Babu. Babu drives a motorcycle for rent. Later, Shahidul left the room after charging the two phones he used. After giving the status on Facebook, he left the two phones and went out.
Motorcyclist Babu said that on the day of the incident, he took Shahidul Islam to the slope of Lohalia bridge on his motorcycle. Later he came to know about the disappearance of Shahidul Islam through local people.

Moniruzzaman told Prothom Alo on Thursday afternoon, “Yesterday, Wednesday morning, a woman named Afia Jhumur lodged a complaint with the police station about the disappearance of her husband. Later it was found that Shahidul Islam is a UP member of Lohalia Union. On the day of his disappearance, he himself gave a status on Facebook by writing “Ural Dev Aakashe”. This raises many questions about the matter. We are investigating in all aspects.
